Welcome to the OCFN Membership Department. 

 

Our Program Mission is to be of service to our Members, Nation, and OCFN Governance. 

Our values are kindness, respect, strength, and honesty. We believe that it is an Honor and a Privilege to be a Member of the O’Chiese First Nation, therefore, Our Members will always come first. We are client based, and our clients are always welcome to contact us with any questions, concerns, or general inquiries.

The primary purpose of the Membership Dept. is to serve the Members of OCFN: past, present, and future. 

We do this by:

1. Receiving, processing, and reviewing applications for Band Membership via the OCFN Membership Act (2011) and its correct channels.

2. Record Keeping of OCFN Band Members and significant events.

3. Applying for and distributing Certificates of Indian Status to the client.

4. Keeping in contact and following up with OCFN Members and their matters.

5. Serving the Nation as election officers and acting as official electoral delegates in OCFN Nation voting processes.

6. Assisting the client with the registration of themselves and/or their children with the Government of Canada.

7. Assisting the client in applying for the Secured Certificate of Indian Status from the Government of Canada.

8. Assisting the client in matters of Estates processes with the Government of Canada.

9. We also aim to analyze and provide solutions to complex issues or obstacles that many OCFN Members experience regarding bureaucratic systems and processes.
